I've fished since I was seven years old having been encouraged by the local match fishing club at a time when it was a common occurence for such clubs to run regular coach trips. I'm very gratefull for the 'grounding' that this gave me.
My pet hates are:
Angling clubs which provide exclusive fishing opportunities for a minority using the funding from the majority.
Angling clubs who don't have the conservational forsight to preserve existing stocks of less common species - especially when they grow to good size. i.e. those which stock large numbers of Carp to the detriment of established species.
Angling clubs who prevent a specific fraction from fishing in the way they like because it is alien to themselves.
I'm happy trying any sort of fishing but I'm at my most comfortable fishing for stillwater Tench & Bream. I'm most inexperienced with the predator and 'game' species.
